Guwahati based indie musician Naaz Sultana has been steadfastly captivating the region’s music-savvy crowd with her magnetic voice. While singles like Xikoli and Porisoy’reflect the artiste’s creative take on the personal and political side of life, her energetic live performances remain a powerful testimony to her versatility as a singer. Having been raised in Shillong, the city’s famous music culture had a profound influence on Naaz. She embarked on her musical journey during her college years, and started off first by singing with a Gospel band called Coffee House. Following this, she founded the band White Beryl in the year 2009 which was the only female-fronted band selected for the Channel V Launchpad prelims, Delhi 2011. Apart from playing a flurry of gigs in and around the Northeast, Naaz has also opened for renowned pop giants Michael Learns to Rock during their Guwahati tour in 2015, as well as for many Bollywood celebrities such as Vishal Bharadwaj, Nagesh Kakunoor, Gauri Shinde, and many more.
